One of the most frustrating experiences as a business owner is creating something you genuinely believe can help people and then watching it sit there.

No sales.

No customers.

No emails.

No notifications.

Nothing.

If you’ve ever experienced that feeling, you’re not alone.

In fact, it’s one of the main reasons I started this 90-day experiment here at Smart Digital Brand.

Like many people, I’ve spent time creating products, building websites, learning marketing strategies, and trying different approaches to growing an online business.

Some things worked.

Some things didn’t.

But lately I’ve found myself asking a question that many entrepreneurs, freelancers, and creators are asking:

How do I get my products or services in front of the right people?

Because at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how good your product is if nobody knows it exists.

The Hard Truth

Most of us assume we have a sales problem.

We think:

“My product isn’t selling.”

But what if that’s not the real problem?

What if the real problem is visibility?

People can’t buy what they never see.

They can’t hire you if they don’t know you exist.

They can’t download your template, book a service, or purchase your product if they never discover it.

That realization has changed the way I think about business.

A Lesson I Learned the Hard Way

Years ago, I created a series of 30-Day Business Plans.

I thought they were useful.

I thought people would love them.

I spent time creating them, organizing them, and preparing them for sale.

Almost nobody bought them. It got plenty of traffic but zero sales.

Meanwhile, one of the simplest products I ever created—invoice templates—generated over $500 in sales.

Why?

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about that question.

The invoice template solved an obvious problem.

People immediately understood what it did.

They could picture themselves using it.

The benefit was clear.

The business plans were different.

They may have been useful, but I don’t think people immediately understood how the product would help them or whether it was meant for them.

That taught me an important lesson.

People don’t buy products.

They buy solutions.

The Importance of Clarity

Imagine walking into a store and seeing a product with no label.

No explanation.

No description.

No indication of what problem it solves.

Would you buy it?

Probably not.

Yet many business owners accidentally do the same thing.

We become so familiar with our products that we forget to explain them clearly.

Instead of focusing on what the product is, we need to focus on what the product does.

What problem does it solve?

Who is it for?

How does it make someone’s life easier?

The clearer those answers are, the easier it becomes for people to understand why they need what you’re offering.

People Love Quick Solutions

One thing I’ve learned recently surprised me.

People love quick solutions.

Not because they’re lazy.

Because they’re busy.

Most people aren’t looking for another complicated system.

They’re looking for a practical answer to a specific problem.

Think about the products and services you use yourself.

Many of them probably save you time, reduce frustration, simplify a process, or help you reach a goal faster.

That’s what people are buying.

Not the product itself.

The outcome.

So How Do You Get in Front of the Right People?

I’m still testing and learning, but here’s what I believe so far.

Start With the Problem

Before creating content, products, or services, ask:

What problem am I solving?

The clearer the problem, the easier it becomes to find people who need the solution.

Talk About the Outcome

Instead of describing features, describe results.

People care less about what something is and more about what it helps them accomplish.

Be Specific

The more specific you are, the easier it becomes for the right people to recognize themselves.

General advice attracts general attention.

Specific solutions attract people with specific problems.

Stay Visible

Many products don’t fail because they’re bad.

They fail because not enough people see them.

Visibility takes time.

Consistency matters.

People often need multiple interactions before they trust a brand enough to buy.

What We’re Exploring Next

This question—how to get products and services in front of the right people—is one of the biggest challenges facing small business owners today.

Over the next several weeks, we’ll continue exploring related questions:

Why aren’t products selling?

How do you know what people actually want?

How do you build trust online?

How much traffic do you really need before making a sale?

And perhaps the biggest question of all:

How do you create something people actually need?

Those are the questions we’re trying to answer.

Not just for readers.

For ourselves as well.

Final Thoughts

The more I think about it, the more I believe most businesses don’t have a product problem.

They have a communication problem.

A visibility problem.

A trust problem.

People can’t buy what they don’t understand.

They can’t buy what they never see.

And they can’t buy from someone they don’t trust.

The good news?

Those are all problems that can be improved.

And that’s exactly what we’re going to investigate throughout this series.

About This Series

Over the next 90 days, we’re investigating a simple question:

Why are so many people still struggling to grow their businesses, attract customers, and increase their income despite having more tools and opportunities than ever before?

Each week, we’ll explore a real-world challenge, share honest lessons, and focus on practical solutions that ordinary people can actually use.

If you’re looking for realistic ways to grow your business, attract more customers, and build additional income, I invite you to follow along.

This is so true! Products that easily solve a problem are always the most enticing to buyers.

  2. Yes, that’s so true. We have to make sure our customers can see the reasons to buy our services.
