I used to believe that if you showed up, did your job well, and stayed consistent… you’d be safe.
That if you worked hard enough, job security would follow.
I was wrong.
Because the truth is — job security doesn’t really exist anymore.
Companies restructure. Budgets change. Contracts end. Decisions get made behind closed doors that have nothing to do with how hard you worked.
And just like that… everything changes.
I’m currently living that reality.
I found out that my role is coming to an end. Not because I did anything wrong — but because sometimes, that’s just how things go.
And if I’m being honest, it forces you to look at life differently.
The Shift Most People Don’t Talk About
When something like this happens, your mindset has two options:
You panic… or you pivot.
I chose to pivot.
Not perfectly. Not fearlessly. But intentionally.
Because if there’s one thing this experience teaches you, it’s this:
Relying on one source of income is a risk.
Smart Moves I’m Making Right Now
While I’m still applying for jobs and figuring out my next step, I’m also making sure I’m never in this exact position again.
Here’s what that looks like:
1. I’m Building While I Search
Instead of waiting for the next opportunity, I’m creating my own.
I’m actively growing my blog, sharing real experiences, and turning what I’m going through into something that can help someone else.
2. I’m Creating Small Income Streams
Nothing fancy. Nothing overwhelming.
Digital products. Simple tools. Things people actually need.
Because small streams add up — and more importantly, they give you control.
3. I’m Paying Attention to Where My Money Goes
This part matters more than people think.
Cutting unnecessary spending, stretching what I have, and being intentional with every dollar buys you time — and time is everything during a transition.
4. I’m Open to Support (And That Wasn’t Easy)
This one took the most humility.
I created a GoFundMe.
Not because I didn’t want to figure things out on my own… but because sometimes, you need a bridge while you rebuild.
And there is nothing wrong with that.
If anything, this experience has shown me how powerful support can be — whether it’s financial, emotional, or simply someone sharing your story.
If You’re Reading This…
Whether you feel secure in your job or not — let this be your reminder:
Start something.
Save something.
Build something.
Because the goal isn’t just to survive a situation like this…
It’s to never feel completely dependent on one again.
My Reality (And My Next Chapter)
This isn’t the end of my story.
It’s the beginning of a smarter one.
One where I build multiple streams.
One where I rely on myself just as much as any employer.
One where I turn uncertainty into opportunity.
And if you’re in a similar position — or even just thinking ahead — you’re not alone.
We’re figuring this out in real time.
If you want to support my journey, I’ve included my GoFundMe below.
And if you’re navigating this season too — keep going. You’re closer than you think.
