Let me guess.
You’ve been applying, waiting, checking your email… and still nothing.
At some point, you start wondering, “Is it me?”
And honestly, that’s the right question—but not in the way you think.
Because after looking at dozens and dozens of resumes, I can tell you this:
Most people aren’t getting interviews for the same quiet reasons.
Not because they aren’t qualified.
Not because they don’t have experience.
But because their resume isn’t saying the right things, in the right way, fast enough.
I’ve seen resumes from people who should have been getting interviews easily… and they were getting ignored. Not because they lacked skill, but because their resume made it hard to see their value.
One of the biggest things I notice is how vague everything feels.
You read a line and think, “Okay… but what did they actually do?”
When a resume sounds generic, it blends in. And when it blends in, it gets skipped.
Another pattern is people underselling themselves without realizing it.
They’ll write something simple, almost like they’re trying not to sound too confident. But hiring managers aren’t looking for modesty on paper. They’re looking for clarity and results. If your impact isn’t obvious, it might as well not be there.
And then there’s the issue no one really talks about—the resume doesn’t match the job.
It might be a good resume overall, but it feels slightly off for the role. Different wording. Different focus. Different priorities. That small disconnect is enough for someone to move on to the next candidate.
Here’s the part that surprises people the most.
None of this requires a full rewrite.
Most of the time, it’s small shifts that make the biggest difference.
Saying what you actually achieved instead of what you were responsible for.
Making your role clear within seconds.
Using the same language the job posting uses so it feels like a direct match.
Once those pieces click, everything starts to change.
I’ve seen it happen more than once. Someone goes from no responses at all to suddenly getting interviews, and they didn’t gain new experience overnight. They just made their value easier to see.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, it’s not because you’re doing everything wrong.
It’s usually just a few things that need to be adjusted.
And once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
